Smart Search Explained
Searching documents in Prophia uses a product called ElasticSearch behind the scenes. Every document in the platform is loaded into, and indexed, by ElasticSearch and then we use their query ability to search these documents and return the relevant portions.
We call this “Smart Search” because ElasticSearch does not just return exact matches; it has built in algorithms that calculate a relevancy score across the indices based on several different factors. These relevancy scores are used to sort the results and return them with the most relevant documents first.
